Outils et matériels : I use two cameras, a Pentax K20 and K10. My lenses are all from Sigma EX series: 24-70, 105 macro, 100-300 and a 1.4 teleconverter. Sekonic L-358 flash meter. All of this plus extra batteries fits easily in a pair of Lowepro backpacks. Lighting is a set of 4 300 watt strobes with light boxes and a background paper stand usually set up with a 10-foot roll of white paper or muslin. I take pictures with the camera mounted on a Manfrotto 3021 pro tripod with a 322RC2 head whenever possible. I also found a Manfrotto monopod to be useful outside when I’m using the 100-300 lens. I use Photoshop CS3 and a few plugins for post processing.
A simple list of equipment doesn’t say much about itself. Almost everything I now have is a replacement for something I used to have. The K20 was an upgrade to the K10 which I still use. The Pentax replaced a Nikon D70, my first digital SLR. I loved my Nikon but it was getting out dated. It was too noisy with a 200-ISO starting point and 6 megapixels just wasn’t enough any more. I started with the kit Pentax lens which performed well enough until I could afford better. The Sigma EX lenses are great performers in every sense, heavy, solid, easy to manually focus, and reasonably priced; all qualities I admire in a lens. Probably no one realizes the value of a good light/flash meter until they start using one. “Trust the meter” is a new mantra of mine. My light kit started with high wattage daylight fluorescent lights. They worked well enough to convince me I desperately needed studio lighting. The set of 4 300 watt strobes with stands and light boxes were worth every penny. I even bought a boom stand to get correct lighting on top of my subjects. A good tripod and head are a blessing even with a shake reducing camera. My old tripod now sports a 12-inch square piece of plywood on top making a great rig for macro photography.
